Psychological Assessment
A Psychological Assessment is a kind of assessment designed to diagnose various psychological disorders such as: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Bipolar, Anxiety, Depression, and more. This assessment is typically sought out when someone has concerns surrounding emotional development or psychological functioning difficulties that affect their daily life.
Psychological Evaluations at Ascent Psychological Services
At Ascent Psychological Services in Cincinnati, Ohio, we offer comprehensive psychological evaluations that aim to provide meaningful insights into your daily experiences. By identifying key symptoms, we can help uncover the underlying explanations for the challenges you face.
Our assessments can cover a range of psychological diagnoses or focus on a specific area, depending on your needs. We believe in a collaborative approach, where you partner with your clinician to discuss your concerns and determine the most appropriate kinds of evaluations for you.
What the Assessment Process Looks Like
Our neuropsychological assessment follows a structured process divided into four steps: Interview, testing, feedback, and report
Every assessment begins with an initial diagnostic interview. During this session the clinician will ask about the concerns, developmental history, academic or occupational challenges, and behavioral patterns along with anything more the clinician decides is necessary. This helps the clinician understand the background and reason for assessment.
For a Psychological Assessment, there is a single testing session. This session may involve standardized assessments measuring attention, memory, symptoms, and daily challenges necessary to diagnose any psychological conditions. These tools are designed to capture a detailed picture of how your brain operates in daily life.
Two to three weeks after the final testing appointment is your final session: the feedback session. At this time the clinician provides an in-depth conclusion of your interview and tests. This feedback session is designed to support clarity, reduce confusion, and help individuals move forward with practical next steps in therapy, education, or daily functioning.
About two to three weeks following the feedback, you will be provided a comprehensive written report that outlines what the clinician discussed in the feedback. This report can be shared with schools, healthcare providers, or other professionals involved in care.

One of the key advantages to a diagnosis is that it empowers you to achieve personalized accommodations, to aid in academic, occupational, and personal success. This can help people to take better care of themselves and allows them to advocate for their needs with thorough evidence supporting them.
